A scrumptious relish to dip into as you prepare for Thanksgiving! Easy to put together and is vegetarian, vegan, gluten free and figure friendly:)

Appetizers and snacks are a huge part of the holidays at our home. I like to cook together as a family so even as we are preparing the meals, we have various appetizers/ munchies laid out and I find myself snacking the most!
So I am happy to have a figure friendly relish in the mix. This festive and tempting relish goes well with tortilla chips or baked pita crisps and is the most popular dip at parties!
Here is a look at the vegetables and fruit in this quick and easy recipe-

Cranberry Avocado and Pear Relish
Ingredients-
- ½ cup fresh cranberries, cut in half
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- ½ small onion diced
- 1 small plum tomato, diced
- ½ green chili pepper, diced very fine (or to taste)
- Handful of cilantro leaves, chopped
- 1 ripe pear, cored and diced
- 1 avocado, pitted and flesh scooped out
- Juice of ½ lime
- Kosher salt to taste
To make the relish-
- In a bowl, combine the cut cranberries and the sugar. Set it aside while you dice the onion, tomato, green chili pepper, the cilantro leaves, pear and avocado.
- Combine all the diced vegetables and fruit with the cranberries. Add the lime juice and the salt and toss to combine.
- Serve with tortilla or pita chips.
Enjoy!
I have not been to Fiesta Friday in a long time and have missed seeing my friends there. I am joining the party at Angie’s, if she will still have me, with this relish and some chips! It is co-hosted this week by two lovely blogger friends, Loretta and Petra
Have a great weekend all!
Love,
Sandhya

Thank you Suzanne!
What an interesting combination! I would never have thought of cranberries and avocado together – I mentally have them in the Northeast and Southwest slots, I guess… LOL but I totally see the flavors balancing. Cool.
Thank you so much Anne! I think living in the cold northeast I long for the avocados from the warm south west:) I love to experiment with flavors and was glad that this worked so well.Thank you so much for visiting!
Wonderful combination! 🙂
Thank you so much, Ronit!

Welcome to Fiesta Friday Sandhya, thanks so much for bringing along this bright and festive dressing. I love all the different fruit/veggies in that bowl. It’s a nice twist to the regular dressing served around Thanksgiving. I’m sure I’d be digging into that bowl if it were anywhere near me too :). Of course we’ve missed you at Fiesta Friday, but so happy that you were able to spread your beautiful dishes with us. Happy Thanksgiving and happy weekend 🙂
That looks delicious – love the sound of the sharp onion and fiery chilis with the sweetness of the mango and pear and the creaminess of the avocado.

Hi Sandhya, just made this recently and it was a great hit and a wonderful combination of flavors that everyone loved. Minor substituion of pomegranates(I had many of these at home) for the cranberries, but still it was a great hit with young and the old. Thank you.
Thank you so much Vani for letting me know. The pomegranates will be a great substitution in this recipe. I love pomegranates too:)
I like cranberries added to our turkey stuffing also. I think this sweet and tangy combination sounds delicious and only fifteen minutes to prepare! Thank you for telling me you just got back from India, Sandhya. I am glad it was enjoyable and you got back safe and sound! hugs xo
Thanks Robin! Wishing you and your family a Happy Thanksgiving!
