Quick and easy candy flowers to impress your Valentine! You can decorate desserts, cupcakes, kheer pudding!

When I had a request to show how I made flowers in some of my other posts, I thought what better time than Valentine’s day to share these quick and easy flowers? You can use them to decorate any desserts you have in mind for your special Valentine! And guess what? You are sure to impress with these easy to make candy flowers!
I made a thick rose flavored kheer and topped it with my roses and some dry fruit. I used chia seed powder instead of the traditional subja seeds.
For the flowers, I use chewy candy, which I microwave for 3 to 4 seconds, just so that it is easy to roll. I roll it on granulated sugar, which prevents it from sticking to the rolling pin and surface and makes it possible to roll the candy as thin as possible. It also helps in shaping the petals and leaves, as it gives it more structure.
Here are the step by step pictures with the description below-

Clockwise- step 1 is the warmed up candy, step 2 candy rolled on granulated sugar and cut in half lengthwise, step 3 rolling into a flower, step 4 – you can make flower picks with the candy so it is easy to stick it in desserts, attach leaves or can cut the bottom for flowers to ‘float’.
I have just rolled a single strip, but you may also cut petals and join them. The candy sticks to itself! No ‘glue’ needed. Another fabulous thing is that these flowers and leaves dry overnight and can be made in advance and stored!
And now for the yummy kheer pudding-
Falooda Flavored Kheer Pudding with Chia
Ingredients-
- ¼ cup roasted seviya/ thin vermicelli
- 1 ½ cups milk ( I used 1 percent)
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 1 teaspoon chia seed powder
- 2 drops rose essence
- Pistachios, almonds, raisins for topping
To make the Falooda Flavored Kheer pudding with Chia-
- Combine the roasted seviya, milk and sugar and cook it until the vermicelli is cooked, about 7 minutes, depending on the thickness of the seviya.
- Add the chia seed powder and let it cook for another minute. Remove from heat and let it cool.
- Add the rose essence, stir and serve, topped with dry fruit and the pretty roses!
Note-
- Almond milk can also be used instead of dairy milk for a vegan option.
Wishing you all a very Happy Valentine’s day!
Love,
Sandhya

Beautiful dish Sandhya! It is so interesting how you make your flowers. I would have assumed fondant or gum paste. Great idea 🙂

Beautiful post Sandhya. Love your flower making process, was also surprised to learn that you used chewy candy to shape your flowers. You really have great use for your microwave don’t you? Very good! Love falooda and love kheer too, great that you were able to combine the two. I have the rose flavored essence and I also have vermicelli, might give the falooda a go. We don’t typically celebrate V-Day, but I’ll probably cook a nice meal. How about you? The cupcakes were for a dinner I had last week – one of the gals has a 10yr old son. You should have seen his eyes light up when he saw them. The leftovers I divided and gave all but one away 🙂

Thanks Loretta. the chewy candy flowers are the easiest to make. I love falooda too. I am crazy about seafood so my husband has made reservations at a famous seafood place on the harbor. With frigid temperatures, I am happy that they have indoor seating too:)
I can imagine the look on the 10 year old’s face! Hey, my face would light up too …even at this age:) You were so good to give them away. I am trying to be good with food too…..getting rid of those piled on pounds has not been easy….and I have still ways to go.

So easy one. The roses are pretty. Love the idea. Do u powder the chia seeds ?? Why?? Can add them directly and let it soak to become big. It will give a texture.

Yes absolutely. I have one member in the family not fond of chia seeds…so I have to sneak them in:)

True dear. Sometimes for health reasons we have to sneak things into dishes just like this. Anyway the purpose is done.

Never would have thought to use that kind of candy to make these flowers. Great idea and so pretty too. I make a good chia pudding too and am fascinated with how the seeds swell. I will have to try your version.

I have been using more seeds in my recipes. The Chia seeds and the flaxseeds are easy to add. I like various grains and use whole wheat vermicelli and noodles. 🙂 Hope you had a special ♡ month! Thank you for showing how to make the candy flowers. Hugs, Robin
